USC student awarded John Mobley Law Firm Scholarship for second time

The John Mobley Law Firm is excited to present our 2021 scholarship to Austin Lea. This is her second time receiving the scholarship.

Austin is a junior at the University of South Carolina studying special education. She also is a peer tutor for Carolina Life and serves as the public relations chairwoman for S.C. Teaching Fellows. We are very proud of Austin and look forward to her accomplishments in the field of special education.

John Mobley is dedicated to ensuring the scholarship goes to the most deserving candidate. Each applicant must be at least a high school senior and must submit a 500-word paper explaining what the scholarship means to him/her along with a high school transcript and two reference letters. John also keeps in touch with previous winners to follow their success and encourage them to apply again. This is Austin’s second time receiving the scholarship.

John founded the $1,000 John Mobley Law Firm Scholarship in honor of his son, Brandon, who has high-functioning autism. The scholarship is for students who intend to work with children and adolescents with special needs.

“It takes a lot of hard work and dedication for someone to commit to working in this field,” Mobley said. “Brandon is an amazing child, and he thrives because of the love and dedication of these workers and educators and the support of his family.”
